Why is my account suspended?

Accounts may be suspended at any time for any reason. However, the most likely reason for your account suspension is failure to meet obligations consisting of completing surveys. If you believe this is an error or if you would like for us to reinstate your account (under the condition that you will be more participative!), contact us here and we will happily give you another shot.


Why do I have to do surveys?

For 2 reasons.
1.) We are giving you music for free (legally) and
2.) Completing surveys ensures that we are able to provide valuable feedback to our partners. The surveys are essential to the success of FirstListen and we want to make sure that we are considered for future projects by our partners.


Why is there freely downloadable music on this site?

We have agreements in place with our partners that allow us to give you music for free in exchange for your valuable feedback (or critique).


Where can I stream music?

You must be logged in to stream music. On the navigation bar, click "Artists", then find the artist you wish to stream. If the artist has music available, you will see a "[Stream]" link located on that page. Not all artists have music to stream. Alternatively, you can login to your account and click the "Stream" link on the left of the page. This will display all artists with stream-able music.


Where do I download music?

On the navigation bar on the left, click "Artists," and then select the the download. Alternatively, log into your account and then click on "Downloads" on the left navigation bar. Music is only available to download when an active project is open.


I have a problem, how should I contact you?

The best way to contact us is via the contact page.


What is the different between your "artists" and your "blog."

"Artists" are projects where you're required to complete a review and a survey. Posting/Responding to the blog is optional.


Am I required to complete surveys?

Yes, yes you are.


What if I don't complete my surveys?

Shame on you! Since it is a requirement, you must be actively completing surveys to stay on as a member.


How many surveys can I miss and still remain a member?

It varies depending on member date and total surveys. As long as you're regularly completing surveys, you won't get kicked out.


I missed a survey due to a life-changing experience. Can I still complete it?

Yes, just send us a message (hyperlink to contact us page) and let us know.


Why do I have a bunch of surveys in my survey archive, even though I just signed up?

For your convenience (and interest!), we have listed all prior surveys we've administered (at least since we've had the survey system in place).


Am I required to complete all of these past surveys?

You're not required, but are encouraged to if you're familiar with the music from that survey.


What if I'm an older member? Am I permitted to complete past surveys?

Yep!

Does FirstListen cost anything to be a member?

Since you are special to us, there is no cost for members to use FirstListen.


Can anyone sign up to be a FirstListen member?

Yes, there are no prerequisites. You must love music and you must be willing to provide feedback though.


What if I don't provide feedback?

You don't want to know. Kidding! We do eliminate members who aren't actively participating with us.


I do not live in the USA; can I still use your service?

Yes. International members can use FirstListen free of cost too.


I used to be an international member and FirstListen was free, then it wasn't, but now it is again. Why?

We had to subsidize shipping costs. Since music is primarily digital now, there are no fees anymore.


If it doesn't cost me anything to sign-up, how does FirstListen keep the lights on?

We subsidize costs through the artists and their respective agents to use the service.


Will you sell my personal information?

Never. We take privacy very seriously and will never sell any personally identifiable information. Read more about our privacy policy here.


Why do you ask for my address?

From time to time, FirstListen may send out physical items to you.


Can I quit FirstListen whenever I like?

While we hope you never quit, yes, you can leave FirstListen at any time.

Is FirstListen a free service?

Unfortunately, it's not. FirstListen does have expenses and we do need to keep the lights on.


How much does FirstListen cost?

Please contact us here for rate information. The rates are reasonable for the service.


What all does being a featured artist on FirstListen entail?

Email us here and we'll explain further.


Will you accept any artist that is willing to pay to use the service?

Actually, no. We do carefully consider each artist, but we do not accept every one.


How do I know if the music I want to submit to you is a good fit for FirstListen?

After you provide us with music, we'll evaluate and let you know.
