Portugal. The Man (selections from the Satantic Satanist)

Portugal. The Man is a FirstListen alumini. We first worked with Portugal a few years back when they dropped the awesome album Church Mouth, found here: http://www.firstlisten.org/artist.php?id=105.

At any rate, their new record, the Satanic Satanist came out in 2009 (and no, they're not devil worshipers nor is that the message behind the title) is 1 of this year's finest albums to come out, at least I think so. The sound of this album sort of crosses rock n roll with Motown. It also sort of reminds me of Oasis at its best. We're glad to have been involved in the early development of Portugal and hope you dig them as well.

Here are a few select tracks from the album for you to check out:

Portugal. The Man - People Say

Portugal. The Man - The Sun

Portugal. The Man - Do You

Not really my genre, but defiantly something I'd have for background music in my home.

I'm in the same boat with Bob, that this is not my genre. I reread my first review of Portugal. The Man. I initially thought their music was different for different sake. However, I think that some of the elements have come together in this album, or at least in the 3 posted songs, to create a sound that I just can't help but listen to a few more times.

People Say: Love the opening/main guitar lick

The Sun: Initially sounds like Queen until it melts into a unique trippy blend. Something about it is just cool.

Do You: Had to listen a couple times to really listen to some lyrics. Turns out they rock.

So thanks for posting those. I had pretty much written the band out of my memory, but now I think I might check this album out.
Look for the ridiculous in everything and you will find it

Three songs to sample was all it took for me to get the album. I loved it, thanks for posting.
