Sounds like Damian Rice

This 'mailing' was far and above almost every other artist that I have heard on First Listen. I REALLY enjoyed every song (even tho there were only four, unfortunately). 'The Other Side' and 'Let Your Beat Go On' began to wear on me after the 3rd or so listen, but I could listen to 'Hero's Song' over and over and over. Great voice, great lyrics, great melodies...although he sounds a LOT like Damian Rice - the music style AND the way he sings (slight Irish accent almost?). Comparing him to Damian Rice is NOT an insult in any way though. Sounds like he should be on a few movie and TV show soundtracks in the near future.

Soothing & melodic music

This EP is full of the type of music that I like which is probably why I enjoyed it much more than other offerings. I loved his voice and the piano. I like listening to the lyrics and hearing the stories they tell. This is something that I could just chill and listen to. Very nice effort and I look forward to hearing morning from Mr. James. One of the reviews summed this EP perfectly - Melodic Piano Pop. If that's what you like, then you'll thoroughly enjoy this selection.

Amazing voice...

His voice is so relaxing. It sounds like he came from a different decade, like mid 80s or so. This CD puts me in a good mood as a whole. The lyrics are meaningful and make you really want to listen closer to understand them.

Great Soft Sound!

I loved his voice and the piano. He really has some talent with his lyrics as well. He has great variety in his song choice as well.

Excellent

I really loved how chill this EP was. I really liked The Other Side, it was a cool bit of upbeat, but still chill enough to read to or study while listening to. I also really like Let Your Beat Go On, some great piano, as was the rest of the EP.

really enjoy his work

The pace of his music is something that I need to be in a particular mood in order to listen to, but regardless I still really enjoyed these tracks. His voice stood out to me more than the music did at times. The vocals reminded me quite a bit of James Taylor. I'd really like to hear the full album.

brendan james...maybe a little too mellow sounding for me. his vocals aren't horrible but personally the songs remind me of elevator music.

smooth style

Sounds nice, from what I can hear on his Myspace page. As previously mentioned, due to computer problems, I can't downloaded tracks. I preferred 'Early April Morning', but that's not on this EP, so....I guess my next choice would be 'The Other Side'. Interesting sound. Great brunch music?

Brendan was mediocre.

I didn't really enjoy Brendan James much. Over all I'd say his overall performance was of moderate to low quality. I did enjoy the midi sounding keyboard in the second song: Hero's Song. The brass in Heros Song didn't fit very well. Let Your Beat Go On has powerful lyrics. I like songs that reference God in a good way, because He is real and He is good. I didn't like the sound The Other Side much at all. I guess it could be rated as 3.5 star. Work hard, Brendan.
