thoughtful songs for a rainy day

The guitar chords sound complex. Though I do not know if they are or not, I am given that impression. My favorite songs on this album are easily 'Easy,' 'All We've Ever Done,' and 'Countless Songs.' I like the cute upbeat sound of 'Easy' while 'All We've Ever Done' is close to a ballad. I like that there is this variety. I also like that the female vocalist sounds very careful in the way she sings, that she has control, not just belting it all out when given the opportunity such as the latter part of 'All We've Ever Done.' It sounds more sophisticated this way and I just like her voice in general. I like that it is folksy and something I would listen on a rainy day.

Not really enough to keep my interest...

I would leave 2 1/2 stars, becauase I feel this album was only half good.

A Female voice that rises above the rest

This album was EXCELLENT! I am not normally a fan of female singers but Lex Land blew my mind. Her muic is so ful of emotion and truth that you can't help but get into it. She walks that fine line between whiny and annoying and off key without crossing it. She has a beautiful voice and beautiful lyrics. Amazing offering from first listen. thanks for the new favorite album!

unsure

i really don't know what to write, as i haven't been able to devote enough time to really listening to this artist. i know that we're given ample time, but due to hurricane ike, i've been unable to return to galveston, and even to go back to work (part of my workplace was destroyed...to this day we have no power there, and we are on a waiting list for repairs through the port of galveston). my internet account with comcast has been suspended, and i am only able to keep in touch with first listen via email. i have, therefore, only been able to complete this survey based on snippets of songs, so my opinion counts very little in the overall assessment of firstlisten's response to lex land.

Mellow but a little stale for me

Lex Land has a beautiful voice but is a little whiny sounding in a couple of songs. The songs overall had a very sleepy feel to them and I just didn't love it. I wish I could put my finger on it but all I come up with is sleepy. Bit of an old school feeling to it. I do like the lyrics, though. And despite the sound not being fully appealing, the songs are well done, in my opinion.

Ok...not music I usually listen to these days

Somewhat unique sounding, but does remind me of a mix of Colbie Caillat and Norah Jones. Only a couple catchy songs IMO.

Enjoyable

I like Lex Land. She has a lovely voice. Many of her songs have a very Fiona-Applesque quality to them. Orange Days on Lemon Street is an enjoyable record.

Good

I wasn't exactly wowed by this selection, but it's certainly something I'd listen to again, if only for the wonderful vocals. There is something truly compelling about her voice, and I can't quite put my finger on it. I'll certainly keep listening to the tracks.
