it's odd how his voice doesnt match his look..but..in this case it is good..i couldnt imagine this music coming out of that guy..i dont know what i was expecting..something more..poppy..so..i was pleasantly surprised.
I am enjoying 'Little Daggers By...' This album's lyrics are pretty much the anthem of my life right now. So... I've been rocking out! I'd like to see Val live. He definitely seems like an artist that would take to the stage amazingly. I usually have trouble picking 3 tracks that I really like on an album, but not this time. My favorite tracks are: 'To Far,' 'Wake Up Brand New,' and 'Hurt More Later.'
I have to admit the first few times I listening to this album, I must have not been in the mood for the type of music because initially I just wasn't 'feeling it.' Today I play it again, and I'm glad I did. Right of way, I was wondering why I thought this album wasn't my type, because today it definitely is! I'm really enjoying the lyrics & vocals. The album had a nice blend of the mellow songs with a couple happy peppy ones, which I like.
I'm digging the tracks by Val Emmich. They've got catchy beats, interesting lyrics, smooth vocals, and a good mix of instrumentals that add texture to the songs. I found all the songs enjoyable and easy to listen to. I like the upbeat feel of the album. Overall, a great group of songs that will remain on my ipod.
For the most part, I generally enjoy the music on Firstlisten. For some reason, I just could NOT get into this cd. Val's voice doesn't seem to be very strong and the music just isn't that enjoyable to listen to. I feel like if he spent a few more years working on his voice and lyrics, he may have a better chance of doing well in our music industry. It felt like he was trying too hard to imitate other songs and strain his voice.
The instrumentals helped with the songs, but his voice is whiny, the lyrics aren't particularly moving and it definitely needs some work.
