thumbs up

I wasn't familiar w/ this group, but I did know Paul Doucette from his work with Matchbox Twenty. First track is a good into; catchy & draws you in. Forget About the Brightside is quite the caution (would've been a pick if we weren't only allowed 3), followed vary appropriately by Now We Become Part Of It! Life is Beautiful is a toe tapper, but when you listen to the lyrics you feel like you're hearing an upbeat Elliott Smith song. Really - most of these songs qualify Doucette for some serious anti-depressants, BUT, they don't sound like downer tunes. On the contrary, the music is very upbeat - an irony when you listen closely to the lyrics. Tracks 6-9 also made my list.

Interesting and familiar

Listening to this record I get the feeling that I have heard it all before, but I think its because there are so many borrowed elements throughout. The vocalist reminds me of a more mature Teddy Geiger, and the piano and guitar delivery is reminiscent of many bands. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The album is catchy, interesting, and the familiarity makes it easily accessible. It is definitely an album that is easy to listen to, and warrants repeated listens.

Fun to listen to

This was great background music. I enjoyed just putting it on and letting it play. Maybe not my favorite lyrically, but it did put me in a good mode.

Happy Go Lucky With Some Roots

I did enjoy The Break and Repair Method's 'Milk the Bee.' It actually took me a while listening to it before I could make a good decision about whether or not I liked it or not. I decided after listening to the first track that I liked the 'happy go lucky' sound of the initial track and that theme carried over into the bulk of the album. But if you probe deeper, you hear roots there... not just happy go lucky fluff. There are real rock, bluegrass even neo-pop roots that bring a nice blend to this album. The piano is reminiscient of a childlike freedom. It is a truly nice album, free of the whiny, smarmy musings of much of today's music. I can't name particular tracks that I like better. I just love the fact that an artist can make melodic and rhythmic happy sounds while keeping the lyrical content of substance, not rubbish. I hope the best for them.

Pleasantly Surprised

I liked the diversity of the tracks, especially lyrically. 'The City...' has a very catchy melody. The Most That Somebody Could know is a lovely piano based love song. After listening the the album the first time, I decided to look up who the artist was. I never read the bio info with the downloads here. I like to listen first and then if interested I'll read on. I was surprised to learn that Paul is the drummer for Matchbox 20. If he keeps this up, he can become a very popular writer/songster on his own accord like other drummers before him, ie: Don Henley, Phil Collins, David Grohl, etc of past decades, but Paul could be that for this decade!

upbeat, fun

I enjoyed this download. It's got a kick to it, which is enjoyable. Creative piano use on some of the tracks which I really loved. Overall, a good listen. Put a good beat in my step.
